2. How long is the duration of the safari trips?
Our advertised safaris are a duration of 10 days. All safaris can be customized to your needs upon request and consultation.
3. What are the costs of the all-inclusive safaris with Somewhere In Africa?
Please refer to the website and click on the specific safari that interests you. This will give you the cost, itinerary and further information.
4. Can you provide information about the accommodations included in the package?
Accommodation options range from luxury safari houses, tented safari camps and 3 and 4 star chalets. Accommodation depends on the safari chosen and locations visited. All accommodation is very comfortable, safe, private and is located amongst the most stunning backdrops for your pleasure and safari experience. During our consultation process we will discuss all aspects of accommodation with you.
5. Which South African National Parks or reserves are visited during the safari?
Depending on the safari chosen, the Kruger National Park, Blyde River Canyon, Golden Gate Highlands National Park, Marakele National Park, Mapungubwe National Park, Pilanesberg National Park are among those that we frequent.
6. What types of wildlife can I expect to see on the safari?
South Africa is home to the Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhinoceros) and a wide variety of other animals. South Africa has approximately 297 species of mammals as well as 849 species of bird. We do our best to give you an opportunity to see as many animals as you desire.
7. Are game drives and guided tours included in the package?
All game drives and guided tours are included.
8. Do you offer both morning and afternoon game drives?

10. What dietary restrictions or preferences can you accommodate?
We can accommodate all dietary preferences and restrictions. Having a brief consultation with each and every client before you arrive gives us the opportunity to learn about your needs.
11. Are there any age restrictions for participants on the safari?
Somewhere In Africa has no age restrictions. We do though like to get to know our clients prior to arrival and the ages of any children so that we can plan the most comfortable, safe and suitable trip for the family.
12. What kind of vehicles are used for the game drives?
For our guided game drive activities, we always us an OSV. Open Safari Vehicles allow 360 degree views with no impediment for photography. The OSV has a canopy (roof) to protect you from the sun.
13. Is there an opportunity for walking safaris or other unique experiences?
Yes, see the itinerary for your specific safari on the Somewhere In Africa website. Walking safaris, night drives, guided day hikes, horse rides are all optional and are included.
14. Are Park fees and permits included in the package price?
Yes, all conservation fees are included.
15. Are there opportunities for cultural interactions or visits to local communities?
Yes, each safari will give you opportunities to visit local communities, interact and experience the culture.
16. What is the group size for the safari, and is it customizable for private groups?
You will only be traveling with your group. All safaris with Somewhere In Africa are private and exclusive to your traveling party. Our standard group size is 2-6 persons. If you are a solo traveler, or a large group of more than 6 persons, this can easily be accommodated upon request.
17. Is travel insurance included in the package, or should I purchase it separately?
Your personal travel insurance is NOT included in the package. We expect that all clients have purchased private travel insurance to suits their needs. Travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover unexpected events like trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and lost luggage.
18. What is the best time of year to go on a safari in South Africa?
The dry winter months from May to September are generally considered the best time for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources. However, South Africa is a year-round destination, and each season offers a unique experience. Somewhere In Africa offers most safari packages during the months considered best for wildlife viewing. Please speak with us at Somewhere In Africa if you cannot see dates on the website that suit your desired dates for travel. Depending on availability we will attempt to customized the dates to your needs.
19. Can you provide information on the expertise and qualifications of your safari guides?
All safari guides, whether walking or in an OSV are professionals in the field and are F.G.A.S.A. (Field Guides Association of South Africa) accredited. The safari guide will interpret the bush/wilderness and its wildlife and ecosystems to the guest while providing the guest(s) with a well-rounded and interesting experience. In addition, the guides are respectful to the ecosystem and its wildlife, and most importantly they are trained in maintaining the guest’s safety. All guides hold a current first aid qualification.
20. Are there any optional activities or excursions available for an additional cost?
At Somewhere In Africa, we are determined to give you the most memorable experience possible. If there is an additional activity that you wish to do, we will try our very best to accommodate that request. During our consultation with you we can personalize these options and customize the safari to suit your request.
21. Do you offer airport transfers as part of the package?
Yes, we will personally be there to welcome you to South Africa and return you to the airport at the conclusion of the safari. All safaris start and end at Johannesburg - OR Tambo International Airport.
22. What is the cancellation policy for the all-inclusive safari?
Please see the Terms of Service document on the Somewhere In Africa website. This clearly outlines all terms and conditions for cancellations and refunds.
23. Is gratuity for guides and other staff included in the package price, or should I budget for tips separately?
It is included. Extra tips are not expected but greatly appreciated. We leave this to the discretion of the guest if they wish to give a personal tip to those with whom they have contact for services rendered.
24. What vaccinations or health precautions should I take before traveling to South Africa for the safari?
It's advisable to consult a healthcare professional for advice on vaccinations and medications. Common recommendations include vaccinations for hepatitis, tetanus, and malaria prophylaxis depending on the region you plan to visit. Most of our safaris are in malaria free zones. If you are doing the Untamed Safari, we will be in a Malaria zone for a total of 3 nights, however it is usually during the months when there are less mosquitos. This will be discussed with you during our consultation should you have any further questions.
25. Can I combine one safari package with another?
Yes you can. If you would like to combine safaris, please speak with us and we will customize this to your needs.
26. What should I pack?
Essentials include comfortable clothing, binoculars, a camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, and any necessary medications. Clothing should include items suitable for cold weather. Early mornings and evenings can get cold in the bush. During our consultation with you, we will go over the specifics for your itinerary.
27. Have all of the photos on this website been taken on Somewhere In Africa safaris?
Yes, all of these photos have been taken by us personally during our Somewhere In Africa safaris.
28. Do I need to bring extra money or cash?
You may wish to buy souvenirs, give tips or buy extra or personalized items. Some cash is useful but most places will have credit card facilities.
29. Will we have privacy during our safari?
Absolutely yes! We will be there to guide and make your safari one to remember for a life-time. All your accommodation will be private and separate with no shared facilities, unless you request otherwise. The only moments you will not have full privacy will be during times of transportation, however you will only be with your traveling party. We at Somewhere In Africa want you to have an intimate and as private experience as you desire. Your privacy and safety is our priority.

31. What if I don’t have a good camera and want really nice photos of wildlife and scenery?
As passionate photographers ourselves, we love taking other photographers on safaris. Please don’t worry if you feel you don’t have the equipment to capture the photos you desire. As part of our safari packages, we are more than happy to take photos (if requested) and give you all of the files at the end of your safari to take home and cherish forever. We want this to be a memorable occasion for you for all of the right reasons.
